Following their World Cup Final victory over France on Sunday, the nation of Argentina has been in party mode virtually ever since.
From the moment that the match itself kicked off, Argentina has perhaps been the most lit place on Earth, as evidenced by this drone footage of Buenos Aires that was taken during and after the match. And this was all BEFORE Leo Messi and the Argentinian national team made their way home from Qatar for the parade.
Needless to say, the parade itself — which was held on Tuesday — was insane, both the good and the bad kind. While scenes of joyous humanity will always be a sight to behold, there are always a few people taking things way too far, as some of the videos from Buenos Aires have shown. One video even shows fans hanging off the 235ft tall “Obelisco de Buenos Aires” statue, which is obviously life-threateningly dangerous. The Obelisco is hollow so the fans were able to climb on the inside before making their way outside at the peak.
All of the below tweets (except the last two) are from CBS Sports studio host Nico Cantor, who is Argentinian. In fact, it was his father Andres Cantor — the lead football commentator for Telemundo Deportes — who went viral following the World Cup Final for his impassioned call of Argentina’s title-sealing penalty kick.

Apparently (cannot confirm or deny) this is the dude that fell trying to hop into the bus.
He’s on a stretcher…SINGING WITH THE CROWD as he’s being taken to the hospital 😳

Buenos Aires, Argentina has totally collapsed. The victory parade, if you can even call it that, has been cut short.
This is the one of the few videos I’ve received that’s the safe to upload to social media. People were jumping into the bus. Just INSANE 🤦🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/OKHfDy7zOB

People are climbing onto structures, street lights, flag poles and they’re all collapsing. People are falling on top of each other. It’s the definition of unsafe and dangerous.
It’s pure pandemonium. How do you control people’s humanity when they’re so blinded by euphoria?

Luckily for fans of Argentina, while Sunday’s World Cup Final may have been Leo Messi’s final World Cup game, the 35-year-old football legend has confirmed that he is not retiring from international duty, stating that he’d like the chance to wear the Argentina kit as a world champion.
As for the future of Messi’s club career, recent reports have indicated that he will leave Paris Saint-Germain — and Europe altogether — at the end of the 2022-23 club season to join Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer club that’s co-owned by Manchester United legend David Beckham.
During the 2022 World Cup, Messi — who was given the Golden Ball (best player) award) scored seven goals, including two in the final, and provided three assists.
