Baker Mayfield has underperformed on the football field this season, with his Cleveland Browns failing to live up to high expectations thanks to inconsistent performances. But one place the 2018 No. 1 overall pick never disappoints is in the media, with the quarterback never holding back from speaking his mind to talking heads who bash him and his teammates.
While Baker Mayfield has done that plenty of times this season β whether it’s calling out (now former) teammates, or throwing the team’s training staff under the bus β the signal-caller’s feud with Colin Cowherd is, arguably, one that he’ll absolutely never shy away from. And, because Mayfield just doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut, Cowherd (once again), baited him into a reply after recently criticizing him.
ποΈ@ColinCowherd: "@bakermayfield was just booed yesterday & flipped off by fans…
βHe was booed because heβs cocky, snarky, has too many commercials, and is in love with himselfβ
…This is why I said from day 1 that Mayfield is π¨π‘ππ₯πππ§ππππ." https://t.co/hxBoMmACeC

Following the Browns’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 β a game in which Cleveland fans were caught booing their second-year quarterback β Colin Cowherd said this about Baker Mayfield on his radio show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
“Baker Mayfield was just booed yesterday & flipped off by fans.
…
He was booed because heβs cocky, snarky, has too many commercials, and is in love with himself.
…
This is why I said from day 1 that Mayfield is π¨π‘ππ₯πππ§ππππ.”
Damn, talk about a major league jab at the guy, huh? We’ve seen these two go back and forth for a couple of years now, but Cowherd took things to another level with that hot take.
Not to be outdone β which, in his feud with Cowherd, he rarely is β Baker Mayfield replied on Twitter to the radio host, defending himself and adding more shade by mocking the media personality for always pickybacking off of him to grow his audience and brand.
Iβm not in love with myself… but you are, thatβs for sure. Also, thanks for the follow on IG! Your constant support is appreciated! Glad I can help out your business!

Look, Baker Mayfield is a competitor who plays with a chip on his shoulder and has said plenty of times that he won’t change for anyone. But, given his struggles in his second year β and the way he focuses on opinions from other people who are paid to give hot takes β it might be time to reassess the importance of battling with media members like Colin Cowherd. Put this thing to rest and start focusing on football, man.
