In case you missed it, because it happened right around the same time as Mike Tyson’s fight against Roy Jones Jr., and because it occurred in Russia, and because it was a freak show of an MMA event, 139 pound flyweight Darina Madzyuk defeated a 529 pound man named Grigory Chistyakov at something called “Our Business.”
It was quite the spectacle.
The fight lasted just 90 seconds after Madzyuk, despite being outweighed by 390 pounds, put Chistyakov away with a flurry of unblocked punches to his skull, resulting in a TKO victory.
After the event, reactions in the mixed martial arts community were just that: mixed.
Former UFC fighter Julie Kedzie congratulated Mazdyuk. UFC commentator John Gooden and UFC referee Marc Goddard were mad. While former UFC welterweight fighter Ben Askren was just confused.

One key figure in the MMA community, however, made his feelings very clear this week as Bellator president Scott Coker has reportedly signed Madzyuk to a multi-fight contract, according to MMA Fighting.
No official word yet on when she will compete at flyweight for Bellator, but Mazdyuk, 28, who made her pro MMA debut in February of 2019, currently has a 3-1 record (the intergender fight against Chistyakov doesn’t count as it was, like the Tyson vs. Jones fight, an “exhibition”).
She is represented by SuckerPunch entertainment, the same agency that manages UFC strawweight champ Zhang Weili, as well as former champions Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza.
