Sunday was a big day for that one friend in the friend group who has been a Bengals fan since birth despite not being from Cincinnati and his team being perpetually terrible. On Sunday, they broke through.

The Bengals are headed to Los Angeles in two weeks to face the Rams at SoFi Stadium. To get there, Cincinnati rolled into Kansas City, overcame an 18-point deficit, made a huge defensive stop in overtime and won the AFC Championship in walk-off fashion.

For everybody except Steelers and Chiefs fans, it was awesome. Brittany Matthews and Jackson Mahomes will not be at the Super Bowl. Rejoice.

Now that the result is official and the matchup is set, the Bengals are America’s team. Rams fans will undoubtedly come out of the woodwork to claim that they’ve been with Los Angeles since the beginning even though they just bought a hat this morning, but the rest of the country will be rooting for the underdog in their heart of hearts.

While Joe Burrow making the Super Bowl in Year 2 after encouraging the team to draft Ja’Marr Chase instead of an offensive lineman is impressive, the fact that they have made the Bengals cool is even more impressive. And it’s not just the duo out of LSU. Cincinnati is fun.

After Sunday’s win over the Chiefs, the party was on at Arrowhead Stadium. The victory cigar smoke was pouring out of the locker room.

Meanwhile, the special teams unit was getting lit. Literally.

While the starters and head coach Sean McVay met with the media, the special teams players were taking shots.

Shots in the locker room? How can you not love the Bengals?
