It’s safe to assume there were plenty of unhappy bettors in the wake of the wild ending we were treated to when the Bills and the Broncos faced off on Monday Night Football. However, one person had already gotten their heartbreak out of the way after Buffalo failed to live up to expectations in the first half of the showdown.
The Buffalo Bills came into the game as 7.5-point favorites over the Denver Broncos, and while Josh Allen and Co. have struggled more than most people expected them to this season, it still felt safe to assume they’d at least be able to walk away with the win on their own turf.
However, that did not turn out to be the case. It initially appeared the Bills had eked out a victory after the Broncos missed a last-second field goal, but they gifted Denver a second chance by putting 12 men out onto the field before Wil Lutz capitalized on his shot at redemption to give his squad the 24-22 victory.
Buffalo didn’t do itself any favors against an admittedly formidable Broncos defense that forced four turnovers, including two interceptions and a fumble that transpired on the first play of the game. Three of those mishaps occurred in the first half—a development that obviously didn’t sit well with one person who was hoping to take advantage of sports betting making its grand return in Florida.
The bettor in question used the Hard Rock sportsbook to place a couple of $1 million wagers on the Bills in the hopes they’d at least be leading by 2 and hopefully leading by 5 by the time halftime rolled (the official first-half spread was Bills -5.5.).
It appeared they might be able to salvage things when you consider the Bills had the chance to score a touchdown after getting the ball back with less than a minute to go in the second, but that possibility basically went out the window after the Broncos nabbed their second pick of the game.
One bettor in Florida at @HardRockBet lost $2M betting on the Buffalo Bills 1H on #MNF.
$1,000,000 on Buffalo Bills alt 1H line -1.5 (-196) ❌
$1,000,000 on Bills alt 1H line -4.5 (-120)❌
Halftime score: Broncos 15, Bills 8 🤯😱

I’m going to assume anyone who can bet $2 million on the spread in the first half can afford to lose it, but that still has to hurt.
