Many college football fans don’t necessarily realize how close the fraternity of head coaches is. The coaches are with each other frequently, whether it’s on brand trips or at conference media events.
They love taking fun little pot shots at each other, and when the Big Ten asked players and coaches to say what coach they trusted the least to make Thanksigving Dinner back at Big Ten Media Day in the summer, it gave us some hilarious answers.
Let’s take a look at the clip, which was filmed well ahead of time of Thanksgiving Day.
Which #B1GFootball coaches are we NOT trusting to cook Thanksgiving dinner? 😂 pic.twitter.com/h7nQSoMUh9

First off, the people who said they trust Ryan Day the least are, in my opinion, correct. Maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t imagine that Ryan Day is some fantastic chef. He seems like a guy that’s put his entire life’s work into being an offensive savant and isn’t much of a cook. Same with PJ Fleck, for that matter.
But, the fact that Illinois coach Bret Bielema got mentioned as someone they don’t trust to cook Thanksgiving dinner so often is a huge red flag to me.
Would Bret Bielema make the best homemade cranberry sauce or pumpkin pie or sweet potato casserole? Maybe not. But, I feel very confident that he would absolutely nail the protein. Whether it’s the traditional turkey or ham, or a more expensive option like a rib roast, Bret Bielema is going to nail it and make you forget about his mediocre sides!
In all seriousness, a Big Ten Head Coach Potluck Thanksgiving Dinner charity event could raise a lot of money! Obviously, you couldn’t do it during the season, but it could be a fun offseason event.
