Bill Belichick is looking for outside help with his public relations, according to reports. Belichick’s exploration into PR help comes falling the fallout of his disastrous interview with CBS Sunday Morning, which saw girlfriend Jordon Hudson exert an off-putting amount of control over him.

While no contracts have been signed, reports indicate that Bill Belichick has spoken with Brandon Faber, the former Vice President of Communications for the Chicago Bears, about helping him with the rollout of his new book, which hasn’t gone according to plan so far, to say the least.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, Belichick has had conversations with Faber “in the hopes of boosting his book tour and/or the overall interests of the North Carolina football program.”

Florio adds that “the potential assignment encompasses working directly for North Carolina and/or assisting Belichick with non-UNC matters, like his book.”

“It would be wise for Belichick to get someone to provide him with frank, candid advice on how to navigate the media. As it relates to his book tour, Belichick has badly blown it by assuming the media needs him more than he needs the media.”

“The decision to revert to that goofy, truculent press-conference presence did him no favors during his recent CBS interview. Throw in his girlfriend serving as a de facto umpire who regarded oversized softballs as high heat, and it was all even more bizarre.” [via ProFootballTalk]

As things currently stand, Jordon Hudson appears to be Belichick’s PR firm given the way she interjected in his CBS interview, deciding which questions he can and cannot answer, a job usually reserved for publicists.

Reports also indicate that Hudson has described herself as the Chief Operating Officer of his production company Belichick Productions, adding another layer of complication to their already bizarre relationship, made even weirded by Hudson’s public refusal to discuss how the pair met.

Whatever is going on with Belichick and Hudson — who has accumulated $8 million in New England real estate assets since meeting the legendary Patriots head coach — it’s certainly sparked concern from both his friends and employers.

Reports out of UNC indicate university execs are beginning to sweat over the relationship between the pair, while Bill’s friend Charles Barkley said he plans on reaching out because he’s “concerned.”
