Bill Simmons refers to himself as “The Sports Guy,” so, undoubtedly, the dude has some serious hot takes about any and everything related to sports. Hey, there’s no hate coming from me, because, if we’re all being honest with ourselves, Simmons wrote the book on how to go from a basement blogger who hustled his way to spots like ESPN, among others, and buying luxury real estate all for his in-depth knowledge of sports.
Still, just because Simmons has the respect of athletes, coaches and fans for his previous work doesn’t mean he can just trash anyone he wants to without paying the price. And, unfortunately, when Bill Simmons had the audacity to trash Dennis Rodman, well, people were not happy about the hot take.
As most of us know, Rodman was one of the key elements in The Last Dance episodes the other day, with wild stories about his 48-hour trip to Vegas during the Chicago Bulls’ 1997-98 season — which was all captured on video. It led to one incident that involved Michael Jordan flying to Vegas himself and pulling Rodman out of bed with Carmen Electra, so it’s safe to say Dennis Rodman has some stories that could more than entertain a room.
Not if you’re Bill Simmons, though, because he actually said he didn’t see a single thing that was interesting about Rodman, which set social media on fire, as users came to the defense of the Basketball Hall of Famer (and then trashed Simmons). Take a look below at what some people were saying.
Bill Simmons: Dennis Rodman is NOT an interesting person. Never has been, never will be.
Also Bill Simmons: Please read my 12,000 world column about the one time me, J-Bug and Sully played the Addams Family slot machine at Vegas and talked about The White Shadow.

Michael Jordan: Dennis was probably the smartest player I ever played with. One time he asked for a vacation in the middle of the season, I had to bring him back. Carmen Electra was in his bed.
Bill Simmons: I can’t think of a single interesting thing about this guy

“All famous athletes have famous friends Rodman being invited to North Korea to hangout with Kim Jong Un isn’t even that strange” Billy probably

It must be awesome having a nickname like “The Sports Guy” and be paid millions of bucks to write and talk about sports — it’s pretty much every dude’s dream job — but being called out and squashed by people on Twitter when giving an unwarranted (and nonsensical) take comes with the territory. Seriously, who the hell thinks Dennis Rodman is uninteresting besides Simmons? The dude has tons of tats, would dye his hair a bunch of different colors, had wild escapades, traveled to North Korea as a makeshift ambassador for the United States, and, oh yeah, once dressed up in a wedding dress for a book release during the peak of his athletic career and fame. If that’s not interesting, what is?
