Original Story:
The Buffalo Bills were in the running to acquire quarterback Trey Lance before the 49ers ultimately traded him to the Dallas Cowboys on Friday, according to Mercury News’s Cam Inman.
The Bills were reportedly in on trading for Lance, but the Cowboys made a better offer to finalize the trade.
Had the trade with Buffalo materialized, Trey Lance would have assumed the role of backup to Buffalo’s franchise quarterback, Josh Allen, adding interesting depth to the team.
The former 2021 3rd overall pick, Trey Lance, was dealt to the Cowboys on Friday in exchange for a fourth-round pick.
The decision was prompted by his challenging first two seasons with the 49ers, which were marred by injuries and a failure to establish himself as the team’s primary quarterback.
The 49ers have now turned the page on the Trey Lance era, opting to move forward with Brock Purdy as their starting quarterback. Meanwhile, in Dallas, Trey Lance will step into a backup role behind the Cowboys’ established star quarterback, Dak Prescott.
The NFL landscape continues to evolve, and the intrigue surrounding Trey Lance’s potential impact with the Cowboys adds another layer to the upcoming season.
