The vast majority of NHL experts expected the Bruins to take a significant step down this season thanks to a combination of injuries, an aging roster, and a lack of depth that appeared to be poised to make the campaign an uphill battle. However, it’s safe to say that has not been the case.
Boston has been the most dominant team in the NHL so far based on virtually every single metric there is. The team tied an NHL record by winning 14 consecutive home games to kick off the season, has racked up a staggering 68 points in 40 games (11 more than any other team), and has been clicking on all cylinders thanks to the system that first-year coach Jim Montgomery has instituted since taking over for Bruce Cassidy.
On Sunday night, the Bs rose to 32-4-4 on the season when they wrapped up a road trip with a resounding 7-1 victory over the Ducks. Fans of Boston sports have traditionally come out in force when teams from Beantown make the trip to the West Coast, and that contest was no exception, as you could hear “LET’S GO BRUINS” chants repeatedly breaking out inside Honda Center during the blowout win.
Most Anaheim fans had already headed to the exits in the waning minutes of the third period, which meant supporters of the boys in the black and gold really had the chance to make their voices heard. They took full advantage, as the spectators who were sticking around to witness the beloved celebratory Goalie Hug pivoted a bit by filling the venue with a deafening “Yankees Suck” chant with around 2:30 remaining in the contest.

It doesn’t get much more Boston than that.
