Brandon Miller will suit up for the Alabama basketball team on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide are set to square off in an SEC showdown against South Carolina.
According to a recent statement from the university, Miller has travelled with the team and remains a part of the program. This news comes a day after his being linked to a murder case involving another Alabama player.
Darius Miles was arrested in January for the murder of a 23-year-old woman in Tuscaloosa. A month later, it was revealed that Miller actually transported the murder weapon to the scene of the crime.
Despite that connection, Miller has not been charged with any wrongdoing. His lawyer released a statement to clear up “misstatements” about the potential lottery pick’s involvement in the shooting on Wednesday.
That release stated that Miller picked Miles up earlier in the evening. Miles brought his own legal handgun along with him, unbeknownst to the driver. Miles then left that gun in the backseat, covered by clothing.
Miller dropped Miles off, and the two parted ways.
Later in the night, Miles texted Miller for a ride. He then later texted Miller to bring him his gun, which was still in the car, prior to Miller’s arrival. That latest text, which came around 1:30 AM, is what has most reacting.
With the report gaining traction in the news cycle, Alabama released a statement about Brandon Miller’s status with the team moving forward.

Athletic Director Greg Byrne echoed these thoughts in a later comment.
“[Miller] is in South Carolina with our team. He went through walk-through today and we expect him to play this evening.”
Many around the college basketball world were quick to respond to the fact that he’d remain a part of the team.

Miller is the Crimson Tide’s top scorer and a projected top five NBA selection. He’ll be on the floor when Alabama and South Carolina tip off at 9 PM on Wednesday.
