Buffalo Sabres’ Jake McCabe absolutely punished Flyers’ Brayden Schenn as he attempted to gain the offensive zone in the first period of Thursday night’s game in Philadelphia.

McCabe rubbed Schenn right off the puck and onto the boards in front of the Sabres’ bench, sending him careening into the half-glass just adjacent. Schenn hit the ice and slowly got up, making his way to the Flyers bench.

Luckily, it seems as if the center is okay, probably thanks in-part to the fact that the glass partition he hit is now both curved, unlike a few years ago. People made a huge deal about changing the way the boards were designed several years back, and hits like that are exactly why.

Scary stuff, but thankfully the youngster is okay.

UPDATE:

Schenn later found the net for the Flyers’ second goal of the evening, early on in the 2nd period. Looks like he’s just fine.
