Brock Purdy has taken the NFL world by storm. The 49ers quarterback is undefeated in the six games he’s played a majority of, and San Francisco is a bona fide Super Bowl contender.

That’s not bad for someone who didn’t go until the 262nd pick of the draft in 2022. The Iowa State product was Mr. Irrelevant, the title given to the final pick of the draft each year.

He was never supposed to play this year, as Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo were ahead of him on the depth chart. But, both of them were injured, and that thrust Purdy into the spotlight in a big way.

He’s played good football, albeit in a game-manager role. Apparently, he thinks it’s pretty easy.

Whoa. Comparing the NFL to the Big 12 is quite the jump. Here is what he said regarding the transition.

“In a sense,” Purdy said. “I feel like the games are a little different, but I feel like right now, it’s like, man, I’ve got so many playmakers around me. I feel like I don’t have all the weight of the world on my shoulders to make something up or (make) plays. It’s like, man, Kyle calls a great game plan. I’ve just got to go through my progression, throw check-downs to guys like Deebo and Christian, and then they make guys miss.

“So, for me, it’s nice. I’ve just got to distribute it to guys and then they come up with all the yards and stuff, which is fun to watch. But college … I feel like sometimes I had to make things up and felt a little bit more pressure.”

Quite the statement, Brock. He will lead the 49ers in their wild-card round playoff game against the Seahawks on Saturday.
