College basketball is home to plenty of coaches who don’t exactly go out of their way to suppress their emotions.
That group of passionate skippers includes Bruce Pearl, who’s been patrolling the sidelines for the Auburn Tigers since 2014.
Pearl literally oozes passion thanks to the massive amount of sweat that saturates his shirt by the end of a typical contest, and he’s never really been shy about speaking his mind when it comes to what unfolds on the court.
The fiery head coach has led Auburn to the NCAA Tournament three times since taking the helm (including a Final Four appearance in 2022), and it appears they’ll be heading to March Madness yet again this year based on the most recent projections.
The Tigers didn’t necessarily need to beat Alabama on Wednesday night to ensure they’ll be invited to The Big Dance (although it certainly would’ve improved their résumé).
With that said, Auburn headed into the game looking to upset the second-ranked Crimson Tide on their rival’s home turf in the hopes of becoming the first team to walk away with a win at Coleman Coliseum this season.
Unfortunately, they were unable to come away with the victory after Alabama secured the W (and the SEC regular season title) by a score of 90-85 in overtime.
The contest was marred by some questionable officiating—especially this controversial foul call that sent Auburn star Johni Broome to the bench for the rest of the game with 7:31 to go.

Pearl also took issue with the lack of foul calls on ‘Bama in the post based on this postgame interview where he absolutely lost his mind while discussing the Crimson Tide defensive strategy he compared to football in a comparatively subdued press conference following the heated outburst.
Bruce Pearl is SICK AND TIRED of his guys getting SMASHED DOWN THERE.
SMASHED.
