Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was back in Iowa City over the weekend to celebrate her college success with the Hawkeyes. While there, the 2023-24 women’s basketball team was honored at Iowa’s home football game.

Clark received her Final Four and Big Ten Championship rings alongside former teammates. She was reliving an awesome senior season in the return to campus!

With the Hawkeyes, Clark averaged 31.6 points per game last year on her way to breaking the NCAA’s all-time scoring record. She led the squad to a national championship game appearance before falling to South Carolina in her final game.

That success carried over into Year 1 in the WNBA where she won Rookie of the Year with the Indiana Fever.

The guard broke a number of league records in her debut season, and she’ll look to build on that incredible production next year. It appears she’ll have to do so under new leadership.

The Fever fired head coach Christie Sides on Sunday just after Caitlin Clark wrapped up her week of celebration.

While Sides led the franchise to its first playoff appearance since 2016, Indiana opted to part ways. The Fever cited championship aspirations with its new WNBA superstar, something that Sides couldn’t deliver on this past season.

Sides was criticized often during this most recent campaign, including by Clark at times during games. Player rotations and game management were the leading complaints, with many saying the Fever won in spite of her decision making as opposed to because of it.

Christie Sides was just 33-47 across two seasons with Indiana. She’s now gone! Caitlin Clark and Co. will have a new leader come 2024-25.
