Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark is not only an elite basketball player skill-wise, but is also an elite competitor. Few play as consistently hard and with as much passion as Caitlin Clark plays with.
But, that passion got the better of her in Sunday afternoon’s game on the road against the Minnesota Lynx. Clark was caught slapping Cecilia Zandalasini in the face while Zandalasini was guarding Clark, drawing a technical foul.
The Indiana Fever went into the game on Sunday playing much better lately as the WNBA All-Star and Olympic Break gets closer. And, late in the third quarter, the game was very much still in the balance as they looked to steal a win against one of the better teams in the league in the Lynx.
As Caitlin Clark drove up the court, Zandalisini fouled her to stop the transition opportunity. Clark didn’t like the foul, flailing out her left arm and striking her opponent right in the face.

The refs went to the monitor, and assessed Caitlin Clark a technical foul, as they felt the contact was definitely over the line. While I’m sure Clark didn’t intend for injury or anything, that seems like a fair call, as she was definitely out of control.
Not to matter, Fever fans. They played a stellar fourth quarter, and beat the Lynx, 81-74. While Clark struggled, going 5-17 from the field, Aliyah Boston picked up the slack, scoring 17 points and grabbing a career-high 16 boards as the Fever are creeping back towards .500 at 11-14.
