Cam Ward is headed to Nashville as the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but his affinity for Morgan Wallen has already caused Tennessee Titans fans to panic. I can’t imagine the organization is particularly excited about this new revelation either.
The last thing they need is for their new quarterback to hit the town with the biggest star in modern country music.
Ward is no stranger to stardom. He got paid a few million dollars to play one single season of college football at Miami. The Hurricanes took him to one of the most expensive steakhouses in the city on his recruiting visit and invited Rick Ross to join them at dinner. South Beach is South Beach.
By all accounts, Cam Ward has a great head on his shoulders. The former zero-star recruit never ran into trouble at Incarnate Word, Washington State or The U. He was never arrested. Nor was he suspended for poor behavior. That is the good news.
The bad news is that Ward will have even more money and more fame in Music City. It is not quite as crazy of a city as the 305, but it can be just as rowdy. Ask Morgan Wallen!
It is now to the point that we are actively waiting on the country music artist’s next “controversy,” for lack of better word. He was most infamously arrested for throwing a chair onto the busy Broadway street below while drinking on the roof of Eric Church’s bar. Not great…
Thus, Nashvillians are worried that his antics could rub off on their new franchise quarterback. Cam Ward revealed on Thursday night that he is a fan of Wallen.
To listen to Wallen’s music is one thing. Like him or not, it’s no big deal. To run the same circles is another.
Famous people in Nashville often end up together at various functions. It is a big city small town. Everybody knows everybody.
Maybe Ward and Wallen will not become friends! Maybe they won’t ever cross paths!
The last thing the Tennessee Titans need is their star player to hit Lower Broad with one of the wildest guys in town. Maybe they will put a clause in Cam Ward’s contract that says he can only hang out with him when sober. That won’t happen, obviously, but it might not be a bad idea…
