Ryan Garcia is going to have to change the date of his fight against Devin Haney if he wants it to take place in Vegas.
Earlier this week, it was announced that Garcia would be facing off against Haney on April 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Garcia is apparently unhappy that the fight is taking place in Brooklyn rather than in Las Vegas because it means that he’s going to make a lot less money.
This is a MGM Vegas fight, doing everything we can to bring this to Vegas and giving this fight what it deserves!!!

This decision has nothing to do with NYC but everything to do with business and what I believe is the best move for my career.

Unfortunately for Garcia, the fight will likely not take place in any of the big Vegas MGM venues because Canelo Alvarez is fighting on May 4th, and his promoters have a deal that prevents other boxing matches from being fought at those venues near his fight date.
The reason the fight not happening n vegas is because they donβt wanna affect Canelo ticket sales..

Boxing reporter Dan Rafael explained the reasoning as to why Garcia and Haney can’t happen at the large MGM venues Vegas on April 20th.
“The problem with Las Vegas for this particular date is April 20th is in very close proximity on the calendar to May 4th which is the date PBC has blocked out for Canelo Alvarez and if anybody knows anything about venue deals and how they work, the promoter and the host usually have a blackout period before their big event because they don’t want somebody taking an event, a week, two weeks, usually it’s three weeks ahead of their event which would cannibalize their potential ticket sales, so the PBC people (Canelo’s promoters) did not want to allow to be in either the MGM Grand or the T-Mobile arena on April 20th”
