Not only the 30-year old Carson Wentz reached out, but also veteran quarterback 38-year old Matt Ryan, who previously played for the Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts, and currently works for CBS. Both expressed interest in the Jets as they seek to find a replacement for the injured Rodgers.
Despite the interest, the Jets have opted to continue with their 2021 2nd overall draft pick, Zach Wilson, as their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future.
Carson Wentz’s career has seen him take start for the Philadelphia Eagles, Indianapolis Colts, and the Washington Commanders, with each team investing significantly in draft picks and sizable contracts for his services. However, in recent years, Wentz has struggled on the field, which has left him without a team and looking for an opportunity to resurrect his career.
The New York Jets, currently holding a 1-1 record, have decided to put their faith in Zach Wilson, with Rodgers expecting to miss the entire regular season due to his injury.
While Wentz and Ryan may be seeking new opportunities, it appears the Jets are committed to their young quarterback.
