Colby Covington Faces Backlash For Mocking Leon Edwards’ Murdered Father During UFC 296 Press Conference

Colby Covington went a bit too far with his trash talk during the lead-up to his fight against Leon Edwards.

During Thursday’s UFC 296 press conference, things got heated when Covington brought up Edwards’ late father, which led Edwards throwing a water bottle at Colby’s face.

Colby Covington: “I’m bringing you to the seventh layer of hell, we’ll say what’s up to your dad while we’re there”

For those that don’t know, Edwards’ father was murdered in a nightclub when Edwards was just 13 years old.

When Edwards was 13, his father was murdered.

He was shot and killed in a nightclub over what Edwards understood to be a dispute about money.

‘It was probably like 2am,’ he recalled. ‘I was in my room. Mum was in her room. We hear the phone ringing. I heard her crying, and I knew from then something bad, you know.

‘Eventually, she came into my room and just told me this, your dad’s just got killed in London. It was something to do with money. I don’t know what exactly. It was some mad s—, but I knew that it could happen.’

The MMA community bashed Colby  over his comment about Leon’s dad.
