College Football Fans Worry Kirby Smart Might Harm Georgia Player After Awful Sugar Bowl Mistake

Through the first half of the decade, there’s no questions thay the Georgia Bulldogs are the preeminent college football program in the country. A large part of that is head coach Kirby Smart and the ridiculously high standard to which he holds his players.

Don’t believe us? Just ask former Bulldogs star Kelee Ringo, who ended up on the wrong end of a Smart tongue lashing on the way to Georgia’s second consecutive national championship in 2023.

That is exactly why fans across the country are currently worried for the health of Georgia defensive back Parker Jones. Jones is a redshirt sophomore walk-on from Albany, Georgia. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, he made his presence known in the Sugar Bowl in the worst possible way.

Dawgs QB Gunner Stockton delivered a beauty of a deep ball to Arian Smith earlier in the second quarter that set up Georgia at the Notre Dame 12-yard-line. But Jones, who was standing too close to the field, interfered with an official on the play and cost the Bulldogs a 15-yard penalty. Georgia ended up settling for a field goal on the play.

“Kirby is gonna have #39 thrown in jail,” one fan wrote after the play.

“Kirby gonna have #39 strapped to the wing of the jet on the flight back,” said another.

At one point, Jones’ official player page on Georgia’s team website went down. With new roster limits being instituted starting next season, his spot on the team may well have already been in jeopardy. Now that’s doubly so after a crucial mistake that may cost the Bulldogs kid.

Good luck, kid. Because it seems like you may well need it.
