Big changes could be coming to the Washington Commanders this offseason. The franchise, which has been a model of dysfunction for over 20 years now, is having a potentially transformational offseason.
That’s because owner Dan Snyder is rumored to be getting close to selling the team. The real estate investor bought the team in 1999, and they haven’t really sniffed success since.
And, his tenure has been filled with controversy. It seems like there has been scandal after scandal involving the then-Redskins-then-Washington Football Team-now-Commanders. Recently, it’s been about the former team name, seen as racist by many, and allegations of a toxic workplace involving a myriad of allegations. Those launched a league investigation and congressional scrutiny followed.
And, there were reports last year that Snyder was withholding payments from the league, which won’t go over well. That could explain him suddenly feeling pressure to sell the Commanders

But, the Commanders have some big changes coming on the field, as well. Quarterback Sam Howell will be in his 2nd year in the league next year, and the team seems committed to starting him after the UNC product had a solid week 18 performance.
And, now, they may be finding him a superstar offensive coordinator.

Yes, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is rumored to be interviewing in Washington soon. Bieniemy just polished off his second Super Bowl victory with a second half where Kansas City was not stopped a single time. He was a huge part, along with head coach Andy Reid, in the development of Patrick Mahomes. And, since it seems likely that Bieniemy will move on this offseason, Reid wants him to land somewhere where he can have total control of the offense.

The Commanders would be a great situation for all sides, and it would be a home run hire for head coach Ron Rivera.
