Dak Prescott is apparently trying to become the highest-paid player in the NFL.
For the past few weeks, the Dallas Cowboys are currently in the tough position of attempting to negotiate the contracts of their three biggest stars Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper.
According to several reports, the Cowboys have made “generous” offers to all three players to keep all of them on the same team next season.
Back in Oxnard for #Cowboys camp today and Wednesday and a few new details on the contracts front. I’m told the team has “generous” offers on the table for their QB, RB and WR. Putting each one in the top 5 “highest paid” at their positions.

Additionally, I’m told they’re ready and willing to get the deals done but if the two sides can’t agree on numbers that make more sense the #Cowboys are prepared to play this season with each player on a “prove it deal.” https://t.co/Grwlg3zTV4

Yesterday afternoon The Athletic’s Michael Lombardi dropped a bomb when he revealed that he was hearing that Prescott had turned down a $30 million a year contract offer from the Cowboys.
If Dak Prescott has turned down an offer in the 30 million per year range, which is what I am hearing, then he is nuts. Not a top-five quarterback

Today, Jenny Slater of the NFL Network not only confirmed Lombardi’s report but added that Prescott is asking for $40 million a year.
I can confirm reports that QB Dak Prescott has, in fact, turned down 30M a year offer and is instead seeking 40M a year per source informed. #Cowboys

This is negotiating and business here. Number, if gets done, would likely be closer to 34-35M but as I reported earlier this summer don’t expect a “hometown discount” https://t.co/aVg9uZhRAk

Update: ESPN’s Chris Mortensen shot down Slater’s report.
Dak Prescott is not asking for $40 million per year from @Cowboys and even reporting he's turning down $30 million on average is somewhat misleading, as @PFT reports. Yes, details matter. As I said even earlier, what's the structure, the real guarantees, etc.? So, relax.

The Internet immediately began roasting Dak after Slater’s report.
Dak trippen!!! I wonder who’s giving him bad advice! 🤦🏽♂️

At this rate, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes might be the first to command a four-year, $300 million contract. https://t.co/6apDDBNo2m
