Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman made some low-key disparaging comments against Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott before the two teams faced off in Week 2.
“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that,” Norman said on Thursday, via the Associated Press. “At the end of the day, he’s been playing well. As you can see, he’s evolved. He’s growing in the system. He’s just taking his keys and picking his targets and throwing the ball on time.”
Norman was upset with how the media twisted his comments, calling Prescott a “great quarterback” and a “brother.” Still, words phrases like “Anybody can do that” and “growing in the system” aren’t exactly glowing endorsements, and the internet jumped on him for it.
Regardless of Norman’s intent, Dak went off in Dallas’ 31-21 victory against Washington, to the tune of 26 of 30 for 269 yards and three touchdowns.
Including a bomb that victimized Norman.

And then there was Prescott’s career-high 42-yard run that ended with a solid stiff arm to the neck of Norman.

After the win, Prescott shrugged off Norman’s comments:
“I heard it, but I’m not gonna allow him to be a motivation to me. I got enough things that motivate me, that get me going. What somebody says good or bad about me definitely isn’t the case.”
