Damar Hamlin’s incredible recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered on Monday has continued at a remarkable rate in recent days, as the 24-year-old is now conscious, communicating, and is “neurologically in tact,” according to UC Medical Center doctors.
Now that Hamlin is truly on the road to recovery, the Buffalo Bills safety Facetimed into the team’s meeting on Friday morning to share a simple message: “Love you boys.” It was also reported on Friday morning that the breathing tube had been removed and Hamlin is now breathing on his own.

Hamlin has been recovering at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center since he suffered from cardiac arrest during the first half of the Monday Night Football game between the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. Hamlin collapsed after making a tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins and had to be revived on the field with the use of CPR and an AED.
While the NFL has officially canceled the game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo is still preparing to take on the New England Patriots in their upcoming season finale.
Hamlin, 24, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft after spending four years at the University of Pittsburgh. Since his life-threatening incident, Hamlin’s GoFundMe has gone from a few thousand dollars to over $7.5 million and counting at the time of this publication.
Our thoughts are with Hamlin’s friends, family, teammates, and various loved ones during this difficult time, and wish Damar all the best as he continues to recover.
