Daniel Andreas San Diego was put on the Most Wanted Terrorists list in 2009 after allegedly being responsible for two bombings in the San Francisco area in 2003. On Monday, he was caught.

San Diego, 46, was arrested by the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) with help from Counter Terrorism Policing and North Wales police in the Conwy area of Wales, according to Sky News. On Tuesday, he appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to begin the process of extraditing him to the United States.

“Daniel San Diego’s arrest after more than 20 years as a fugitive for two bombings in the San Francisco area shows that no matter how long it takes, the FBI will find you and hold you accountable,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “There’s a right way and a wrong way to express your views in our country, and turning to violence and destruction of property is not the right way.”

Daniel San Diego was wanted by the FBI for allegedly planting two bombs at the offices of Chiron Inc., a biotech company in Emeryville, California, on Aug. 28, 2003. The first bomb exploded in the morning hours, while the second bomb was set to go off an hour later, presumably to inflict harm on first responders to the scene. Thankfully, the second bomb was discovered and the area was cleared before it could go off.

Then, on Sept. 26, 2003, San Diego allegedly planted another bomb at a nutritional products company, Shaklee Corp., in Pleasanton, California. That bomb was reported to have been wrapped in nails.

The bombs were allegedly planted by San Diego, who the FBI claims has ties to “animal rights extremist groups,” because the companies had been linked to a lab that conducted experiments on animals.

According to the FBI’s Most Wanted poster of Daniel San Diego, he was indicted in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, in July of 2004 for maliciously damaging and destroying, and attempting to destroy and damage, by means of explosives, buildings and other property; possession of a destructive device during, in relation to, and in furtherance of a crime of violence. The FBI had been offering a reward of up to $250,000 for information leading directly to his arrest.
