Dave Portnoy Receives Backlash Over Bizarre Lightning Delay Rant On Big Noon Kickoff

FOX

Barstool Sports’ Dave Portnoy has angered college football fans. Since joining Big Noon Kickoff, Portnoy has enjoyed playing the role of a heel on the show with his WWE-style promos against Ohio State.

“I have a couple of things to say to these people,” Portnoy said while getting booed by Ohio State fans in his Big Noon Kickoff debut. “First of all: shut up! Shut up! I want a moment of silence, a five-second moment of silence for all you Ohio State morons who have been saying ‘here comes the hammer. Michigan’s getting the death penalty. We’re gonna have to vacate wins.’ Shut up! A moment of silence.”

Portnoy went viral again this week for another rant, this time against lightning delays.

The Barstool Sports founder believes that fans should sign a lighting waiver if they want to attend games.

“I’m sick of lightning delays…everybody going in, sign a waiver,” Portnoy said. “If you get struck by lightning, so be it. But when they do the delay, the fans have to leave the stadium anyway, so what if they get struck outside? Let’s play football – man football – weather, Midwest. You sign [the waiver].”

“Lightning, if it hits you, it’s just not your day,” Portnoy added.

College football fans immediately blasted Portnoy over his take.

While people are hating on Portnoy, it’s clear that Fox hired him for his viral hot takes, and it seems to be working.
