On Monday, weeks of speculation concerning Derek Carr’s plans for the future officially came to an end when the New Orleans Saints signed one of the biggest names in this year’s free agency class to a four-year deal.
The man who spent close to a decade with the Raiders will be swapping silver and black for black and gold after inking a contract that will pay him upwards of $37 million a year.
Journalists across the football world scrambled to report the news after it broke. That includes Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, who failed to proofread the tweet he sent out informing his more than 467,000 followers that the Saints had found a new QB in the form of David Carr.

That would have been a very surprising development when you consider David—the Fresno State product who was drafted by the Houston Texans will the first pick in the 2002 NFL Draft en route to becoming a fairly infamous bust—hasn’t been on an NFL roster since he served as a backup QB for the Giants more than a decade ago.
Plenty of people were quick to point out the mix-up, and Garafolo opted to leave up the offending tweet before saying he’d signed up for Twitter Blue to give him the ability to edit others in the future.
The elder Carr brother eventually came across the post and decided to have a little bit of fun at Garafolo’s expense, as he joked he “did like 10 push-ups” after hearing about the erroneous report.

When you consider David raked in $40 million in contract money over the course of a career that left plenty to be desired, I’m sure he’ll be just fine.
