A Hawks fan who hit a half-court shot to win $10,000 was already having a pretty good week, but Dejounte Murray has promised to make it even better after he was seemingly impressed by the baller celebration the guy pulled out after drilling it.
Anyone who’s played basketball knows it’s virtually impossible to shoot around in the gym without succumbing to the urge to chuck up at least one shot from a spot on the court you have absolutely no business pulling up from.
While there are some guys in the NBA who actually have a (somewhat) reliable half-court jumper in their arsenal, the average person will never practice it enough to make it on even a semi-consistent basis. With that said, there’s something to be said for the rush that comes with making one, and it’s easy to convince yourself practicing from that distance will come in handy someday.
After all, you never know when you’ll get the chance to join the group of people who’ve been selected to try to make one at a college or NBA game—a club that welcomed an Atlanta Hawks fan named Jack when he was given the chance to make a half-court shot for a cool $10,000 on Thursday night.
Now, I can’t necessarily tell you how I’d react if I won $10K in that situation, but I guarantee it would involve much more yelling and jumping than Jack opted to go with, as he remained remarkably composed while using his hand as the imaginary check he signed after securing a real one with an impressive heave.
That reaction eventually came to the attention of Hawks guard Dejounte Murray (who had 44 points—including a game-winning jumper in overtime—during Thursday’s showdown with the Celtics), who apparently has another $10K waiting for Jack as soon as he’s able to track him down.
I Need This Guy INFO. I Got Another $10k For Him!!!!! 💯🙏🏽 https://t.co/a0ESKhX1yN
