There aren’t many situations in life that can’t be improved by the addition of a dog, and over the past few years, we’ve seen some fairly run-of-the-mill sports moments unexpectedly elevated thanks to some Very Good Canines that decided to make a surprise appearance.
Last month, a minor league baseball game was briefly put on hold after a golden retriever tasked with fetching bats decided to take a tour of the diamond in the middle of an inning. It’s also impossible to forget the highlight of the 2020 NFL Draft that came courtesy of Bill Belichick’s husky Nike, who appeared to take the reins during the second round when he posted up next to his owner’s laptop.
Over the summer, the famously stoic coach cracked a rare smile when a reporter’s dog popped up on a Zoom call during a press conference, and on Monday, we were treated to a similar incident during an end-of-season media session featuring Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro and his dog Cleoh.
Shapiro was discussing the team’s offseason plans when the Goldendoodle suddenly popped his head into the frame before making his way off the podium.

The president didn’t let his pup’s intrusion distract him, but he did give him a shoutout after the video started to make the rounds on Twitter.

If you want more pictures of Cleoh, you’ve come to the right place.
Our dog, Cleoh. After this morning’s walk, he is officially 0 for 6,429 in his pursuit of squirrels. Yet he remains undaunted, determined and optimistic that his next walk will finally lead to a conquest! Love his perseverance. #grittydog pic.twitter.com/qAMz72UE7C
