- DraftKings is set to add a sportsbook in Wrigley Field
- The space wouldn’t open until the 2023 season
- Cubs fans are going crazy on social media
We’ve got big news in the world of sports betting. One of baseball’s most historic venues is getting an upgrade into the 21st century.
DraftKings announced on Monday afternoon that the company would be adding a sportsbook in Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. Fans will now get to enjoy the scenes of brick and ivy while also popping inside to place a bet on Major League Baseball games.
It’s something that we’ve seen at other sports venues around the US.
DraftKings and the PGA Tour recently opened a sportsbook in Arizona at TPC Scottsdale, the home of the Waste Management tournament. The Arizona Cardinals are also set to open a sportsbook in State Farm Stadium in a partnership with BetMGM, which should open by the start of the 2022 season.
Now, Illinois is joining the action and the social media response is great.

Others aren’t too happy with the organization spending on sports betting but not on the actual team. The Cubs are 28-45 this season.
But couldn’t pay any of their star players that just walked away. Sweet 👍🏻 https://t.co/6DB0CCEw4B

And some fans just think it takes away from the mystique of Wrigley Field.
I get how big and more legal sports betting has become, but this just kinda ruins Wrigley. https://t.co/xEUrX0fB3I

We’ll see how it all works out in Chicago. It looks like it should be ready for the 2023 season.
