The NBA held their first ever annual NBA awards Monday night in New York, where they announced the 2017 NBA season’s biggest awards. Russell Westbrook took home the most coveted prize–the NBA Most Valuable Player Award, after the OKC guard became the first player since Oscar Robertson to average a triple-double for a season (31.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game).
Some other noteworthy wins:
Defensive Player of the Year: Draymond Green, Golden State Warriors
Coach of the Year: Mike D’Antonio, Houston Rockets
Most Improved Player: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks
Sixth Man: Eric Gordon, Houston Rockets
NBA Rookie of the Year: Malcolm Brogdon, Milwaukee Bucks
The event was hosted by bandwagon fan and rapper Drake, who did a mighty fine job keeping the NBA superstars’ egos in check. Check out Drake ripping Paul Pierce, Draymond Green, the Brooklyn Nets, and his own bandwagon fandom. Check it out below.
