Dylan Raiola will take the first snap when the Nebraska Cornhuskers take on UTEP in Week 1 of the college football season. The freshman signal caller looks to live up to the hype in his rookie year.

The news was made official on Wednesday as Nebraska football accounts dropped the announcement on their social media outlets.

Raiola arrived on campus as a potential superstar, boasting five-star status on three of the four major recruiting sites. Both ESPN and Rivals rated him as the top passer in the 2024 cycle.

The Cornhuskers had to fight until the very end to land his services as he’ previously been committed to Georgia before a signing day flip.

When the dust settled on his recruitment, Matt Rhule won out.

Now, the focus is on the future as Dylan Raiola looks to prove those recruiting rankings right. He’ll get his first chance in the season opener.

The rookie made initial headlines due to those ratings and projections, but he’s since gone viral for other reasons. Raiola showed up to training camp looking just like Patrick Mahomes!

He’s imitated the Super Bowl winning quarterback in every way possible, from the haircut to the dress code to his jersey number. You can’t tell them apart!

He’ll now hope to channel his inner Mahomes on the field in Lincoln. Raiola’s done with the first order of business having landed that QB1 tag. We’ll see how he performs vs. UTEP.
