Christian Pulisic is, by all accounts, poised to be the future face of soccer in America. He’s already a goal-scoring machine with Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga. He wasn’t able to single-handedly score enough goals to help the USMNT qualify for the 2018 World Cup but at the end of the day he’s just a 19-year-old kid from Hershey, Pennsylvania and can’t carry the weight of an entire team on his shoulders.
Christian was in Washington D.C. for Christmas. That drive would take you roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes with minimal traffic. This time of year the roads are covered in ice and the driving is slow going. Chrisitan wasn’t able to get back to his home in Hershey on Christmas to spend time with his beloved dog, a dog who presumably lives at home with his parents while he plays soccer abroad over in Germany.
Nobody should be kept away from their dog on Christmas Eve, right? Right. So what’d Christian Pulisic do? He took to Twitter to see if any fans would pick his dog up from Hershey and drive it to him on Washington D.C. so that he could spend the holiday with his pup. Some superfans came through for him and all was right in the world. Here’s how it went down:
Anyone willing to drive my pup from Hershey to Washington DC so I can see him for the holidays:) pic.twitter.com/Rb4bijEMvz

As noted on SI Soccer, superstar Landon Donovan expressed approval:

Damn, a shout out from Landon Donovan on Christmas Eve no less. Merry Christmas dude. I’m no hero, I just love dogs and soccer.

This might seem like an extreme level of fandom but there are so many dog lovers out there in the world. I could see someone agreeing to do this even if they didn’t know who Christian Pulisic was. Dog people (myself included) are crazy people.
