It’s been a tough road for Scott Frost ever since joining his alma mater, Nebraska.
He’s been trying to get the Cornhuskers back to prominence but has failed miserably. In the two seasons with Frost under center as a quarterback, Nebraska won 24 games including going a perfect 13-0 in his senior year.
With Frost roaming the sidelines, though, Nebraska’s yet to record a winning season in four campaigns. That includes last year when his team went just 3-9, winning only one game in Big Ten conference play.
Making things worse, Frost was slapped with an NCAA infraction after breaking a “countable coaches” rule in the 2020 season. Essentially, there was an off-field staffer that was providing on-field instruction.
On Monday, the NCAA handed down the penalty.

Frost gets a one-year show cause order plus a five-day suspension. The football program also landed an extended probationary period through April of 2023.
While the infraction is rather minor, it didn’t stop fans from poking at the Cornhuskers.

The most hysterical part of the whole ordeal is the fact that it was a special teams coach that was responsible for the penalties. Analyst Jonathan Rutledge was fired for his part in the infraction.
Despite receiving the extra on-field help, Nebraska’s special teams unit has been one of the nation’s worst under Frost.
I’m confident that Scott Frost has messed up special teams like few millionaires have ever messed up anything. https://t.co/RWNqNRGmoa

It’s certainly not the start that Frost wanted to what could be a make-or-break season in Lincoln. His teams have won just six games over the last two seasons combined. Another subpar campaign with the Huskers could be his last despite his past stardom as a player on the field.
