Fantasy football is one of America’s favorite activities. Over 40 million people will play fantasy football this year, making it one of the most popular activities. It goes to show how big football’s reach is in American culture.
And, hundreds of millions of dollars are at stake in season-long fantasy leagues, usually run in offices or with friends. Fantasy sports in America in general are worth in the billions, with some estimates ranging from $6 billion up to two or three times that.
People put a lot of time in and spend money trying to get their draft right so they can win their league. And, this year, the consensus top pick in most leagues was Colts running back Jonathan Taylor. He was coming off a 2021 season where he rushed for 1811 yards and 18 touchdowns on 5.5 yards per carry. And, he added 51 catches for 360 yards, vital in Points-Per-Reception leagues.
But, he’s been mildly disappointing. He only has 861 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns this season in an injury-plagued season. He’s missed three games outright and hasn’t been right all year as the Colt offense has sputtered.
But, surely some fantasy owners that drafted him are still in fantasy playoffs. But, the hopes of him getting hot to bring home a fantasy championship are over.
