Former ESPN NBA writer Chris Palmer found himself in a bit of hot water with NBA fans after he made a bizarre claim about his relationship with Kobe Bryant on Twitter.
According to Palmer, Bryant revealed to him and no one else, including his wife Vanessa, the real reason why he changed his jersey number from 8 to 24. Palmer went on to say that he would never tell anyone why Kobe decided to change his jersey number.

Really hope Vanessa, Rob and anyone else Kobe trusted are all in a group text laughing because Kobe’s prank paid off. pic.twitter.com/bLRpi07HEz

Besides the bizarre flex attempt, I'm also fascinated by the arrogance and/or naivety. You really think you know what he did and didn't tell *his wife* in the privacy of their own home? https://t.co/4On788LxD5

An NBA media member said he knows something about Kobe that not even his close friends and family know, but in the same thread said Kobe routinely lied to and planted fake stories in the media
And he didn’t realize how stupid he sounded. pic.twitter.com/2LUCl4MGFb
