Giannis Antetokounmpo has slowly become the best basketball player on the planet. Sure, guys like LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard and a healthy Kevin Durant might have something to say about that claim, but, for all intents and purposes, what the reigning league MVP has done in the past couple of seasons is about as dominant as anything hoops fans have ever seen — and he’s only scratching the surface of what he can become.

As Giannis continues to develop — remember, he’s still just 25 years old — the sky’s the limit for all that he can accomplish. But one looming question is this: With which team will he achieve such greatness?

With free agency looming next summer, 2021, everyone has their eyes on any hints from Giannis Antetokounmpo about what his future might hold. Whether that’s being linked to a team like the Golden State Warriorswhich has popped up a few times in the past — or wondering if the four-time All-Star is looking for a bigger market to become more popular off the hardwood, every NBA fan hopes their team can snag Giannis from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Like every year involving a megastar and free agency, the Los Angeles Lakers are one of the teams being talked about as an option for Antetokounmpo, and, understanding those rumors have floated around, he didn’t do anything to silence those with a recent interview about his future.

While talking to Mackenzie Salmon of Sports Pulse, Giannis Antetokounmpo said it would be “awesome” to team up with his two brothers in “Milwaukee, L.A., whatever,” which, naturally, sent Twitter into a damn frenzy. First, take a look at the video of him talking to Salmon below.

Considering one of Giannis’ brothers, Kostas Antetokounmpo, plays for the Lakers, and another one, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, currently plays for the Bucks, the options of Milwaukee or L.A. seem realistic at the moment. Given the response, though, Lakers fans couldn’t help but take the comment as an opportunity to go wild, presumably holding out hope this means the MVP is headed to the Purple & Gold next summer. Take a look at some of the reactions below.

People freak the hell out over the smallest things, so we should all probably just pump the brakes on the notion that Giannis Antetokounmpo is leaving Milwaukee to join the Lakers — regardless of even hinting at it with his reply above. While everyone sees the Lakers in his response, he also mentioned the Bucks and, oh, yeah, literally any other spot, so let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves just yet.
