Giants coach Brian Daboll isn’t making any guarantees about quarterback Daniel Jones returning this season.
Previously, Daboll had stated with certainty that Jones‘ season wasn’t over, despite his neck injury sidelining him for three weeks. However, when asked again today, Daboll chose a more cautious tone.

On Friday, Daboll admitted, “I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries.” In his full response, he said, “He’s getting better. We’ll see where he is next week. I don’t have a crystal ball with injuries, but he is getting better, and we’ll see where he is next week.”
Last Sunday, Giants backup Tyrod Taylor made history as the first black quarterback to win a game for the team in their nearly 100-year franchise history. He’s only the second black quarterback to start for the team, with Geno Smith making one start back in 2017, filling in for a benched Eli Manning.
Taylor had a solid performance, racking up 304 total yards and tossing two touchdowns against the Commanders in Week 7, marking his second start since Jones’ injury. Now, Taylor is set to make his third start, facing the Jets in Week 8.

Daniel Jones signed a big $160 million contract this offseason, with the expectation that he would be the team’s long-term franchise quarterback. However, the offense has struggled to score points at an almost record-setting pace, and Jones hasn’t quite lived up to the investment so far.
Now, with his injury possibly sidelining him for the season, the Giants are left with some questions at the position.
