The NFL continues to make headlines with the ridiculous fines they hand out to their players.
Throughout this season, the league has handed out a number of unnecessary fines.
This season’s fines started early with Stefon Diggs getting hit with one for taunting in Week 1. Since then, the league has fined a player for removing his helmet. They’ve fined multiple Cowboys players for a celebration that involved the Salvation Army pot outside of the end zone during their Thanksgiving Day game.
Most recently, they even handed down a fine to Alexander Mattison for a touchdown celebration that they had promoted on their social media accounts.
Now they’ve handed out their softest fine yet.
During Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins, Allen Lazard had an impressive block that took out 3 Miami Dolphins defenders and opened up space for running back Aaron Jones on a run down the right side.
After seeing the 3 defenders on the ground, Lazard pointed at them and started counting.

It’s a reasonable response when admiring your work after blocking 3 players by yourself.
Unfortunately, the NFL saw things differently. Today, Pro Football Talk reported that the league had fined him $10,609 for taunting.
Per source, Packers WR Allen Lazard was fined $10,609 for taunting, based on pointing at and counting the trio of Miami defenders he took out on Sunday with one block.

This has to be the weakest fine of the year. The man just put 3 defenders on the ground with one block and he isn’t even allowed to count?
There was no flag on the play. The fans enjoyed it. Nobody had any issue with Lazard celebrating the block. Lazard should have been allowed to just carry on with his life after the big moment.
Hopefully the NFL will stop with these ridiculous fines one of these days.
