In 2019, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski announced he was retiring from football. Then he came out of retirement to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 2022, former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady announced that he was retiring from football. Then he came out of that retirement to play another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In 2021, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman announced that he was retiring from football. Is he now going to come out of retirement to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Because that’s what many who follow the NFL would like to know after Brady posted a video on Monday of him and Edelman getting in a workout together.
Still the best way to get some cardio in… @Edelman11 pic.twitter.com/vT3pCWs6VF

Edelman later poured more gasoline of the fire by responding to Tom Brady’s video.
How’s the knee look? 👀 https://t.co/LYJ3YAp5Sd

Just one problem. The video of Brady throwing to Julian Edelman is reportedly from last year.
Is Julian Edelman really thinking about making a comeback with the Buccaneers?
Of course, based on what we know about Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski’s careers, that also doesn’t mean the Edelman, who turns 35 in May, isn’t considering making a return to the NFL.

Surely, Brady and Edelman didn’t just post those tweets to mess with fans, right?
Perhaps their former teammate in New England, Rob Gronkowski can shed some light on the situation.
Is @Edelman11 making a comeback?? I sure hope so!! https://t.co/FSuUhWltIV

For what it’s worth (and it’s not worth much), last May Edelman was asked about whether he would consider joining Tom Brady in Tampa Bay.
“I’m a one-team guy,” Edelman said on the Michael Irvin Podcast.
In case Edelman forgot that he said that, he had former Patriots linebacker Matthew Judon reminding him on Twitter.
@Patriots for life. Run it back https://t.co/NAKOiOgJgm

“My knees breaking down, I’m not gonna sit here, you know, I got everything I wanted,” Edelman told Irvin. “I got three rings, played in a magical dynasty, with an unbelievable franchise coach, best quarterback of all-time, like, yo, I’m not a greedy guy. I played to win, I played to compete, I don’t need anything else to prove. I’m good with what I did, I left it all out on the field.”
So Edelman is probably not making a comeback. Still, as we have already seen this NFL offseason, stranger things have certainly happened.
knee looks good, but how does this jersey look?https://t.co/ZP87li8Mk5
