We’re only in week 1 of the college football season and Gus Johnson is already in midseason form.
During Thursday night’s nationally televised game between Ohio State and Minnesota, Johnson went viral several times with his commentary.
At one point in the game, Johnson blurted out that Ohio State’s Haskell Garrett had been “shot in the face” before he scored a touchdown without much context as to what he was referring to.
Gus Johnson with the emphatic “This man was shot in the FACE last year”

When Mo Ibrahim appeared to suffer a serious leg injury, Johnson remarked “hopefully it is a cramp.”

Later in the game, Gus Johnson bizarrely told sideline reporter Rob Stone “vanilla melts when it gets wet” which baffled viewers at home.
"You know what they say, vanilla melts when it gets wet."
That's Gus Johnson to Rob Stone. For some reason. Without any explanation of who "they" is, what that means or why they say it.https://t.co/YfjUQDpm93
