The family of the late Hulk Hogan (real name: Terry Bollea) filed a petition last week in Pinellas County, Florida seeking a 90-day extension of the statute of limitations for filing a medical malpractice lawsuit. Hogan died on July 24 after reportedly going into cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater.

The medical examiner’s report called the 71-year-old WWE icon’s death “natural.” In late August, the Clearwater Police Department issued a statement in which they stated “unique nature of this case has required us to interview multiple witnesses and seek medical records from a variety of providers, and our detectives continue to do that.”

The petition was filed by Hulk Hogan’s widow, Sky Daily, and his son, Nick Bollea. It states in the document, according to WFLA News, that there is an ongoing investigation involving doctors and health care providers at Morton Plant Hospital, where Hogan died, as well as medical professionals at Tampa General Hospital.

In August, Hulk Hogan’s widow was reportedly preparing to file a medical malpractice lawsuit over a surgery she says played a central role in the WWE Hall of Famer’s death. She said at the time that she “definitely” believes his death is linked to neck fusion he underwent in May to address a pinched nerve. She claimed the surgery “compromised” the Hulk Hogan’s phrenic nerve, which is responsible for stimulating the diaphragm and, in turn, mediating the flow of air through the lungs.

Hulk Hogan’s daughter, Brooke, has also expressed suspicion about the circumstances surrounding her father’s death. Brooke, according to Bubba the Love Sponge, had been contacted by cops and nurses who expressed to her that “there’s something bad going on here.”

Brooke Hogan also stated on Instagram, “I’ve 100% gotten legit calls from professionals — from police officials to nurses that were supposedly with my dad on the day of his death telling ME I need to see body cam footage and I need to get a hold of the 911 tapes because they supposedly contain information that could potentially shed enough light to change the narrative we/I/everyone’s been hearing.”
