Head coach Tom Allen is being secretive this college football season. Ahead of Indiana’s season opening matchup against Ohio State, he’s keeping a tight lip on his Week 1 depth chart.
In fact, he’s yet to reveal the starter at one particular position on the field, though it’s not the place you might expect.
Allen spoke on Monday about his team’s opener, previewing the Big Ten contest with the Buckeyes. He wouldn’t announce his starting kicker publicly.

Indiana will undergo some change at the position this season with last year’s starter Charles Campbell transferring to Tennessee. The kicker made 14 of his 20 field goals in 2022, as well as each of his 27 extra points.
Now, the Hoosiers have just two placekickers on the roster in freshman Nicolas Radicic and sophomore Chris Freeman. Neither has recorded a field goal attempt, though Freeman has handled kickoff duties.
Radicic, meanwhile, was rated as the No. 3 kicker in his recruiting class.
Coach Allen apparently knows who will start Game 1, but he’s not letting anyone in on the secret. It’s caused a hilarious reaction on social media.

Smart. Too many games lost because the other team could gameplan for the opposing teams’ kicker.

Ohio State will now have to game plan for both Indiana kickers, which again, have never seen the field for field goal duties.
Buckeyes will have to keep preparing for both kickers all the way up until Saturday! https://t.co/rxun4UVoDu
