The Jacksonville Jaguars undoubtedly made the right decision in firing Urban Meyer. With that move, some people may have assumed that it was a sign that the franchise was turning a new leaf and wouldn’t be the easiest team in the NFL to laugh at.
Those people would be wrong.
Jacksonville has circled Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell as a head coaching candidate but has yet to sit down with him and conduct an interview. It’s not O’Connell’s busy schedule getting the Rams to the Super Bowl that’s made an interview impossible. Nope, instead, it’s the Jaguars not understanding how time works.
According to Adam Schefter, the Jaguars didn’t request an interview with O’Connell during the proper window of time. This now means the Jags can’t interview the Rams’ OC until after the Super Bowl.
Jaguars wanted to interview Rams' OC Kevin O'Connell but cannot at this time because they didn't request an interview in the initial interview period, per source.

The Jags certainly aren’t the only team that is interested in interviewing and possibly hiring O’Connell as its next head coach.
O’Connell is considered a finalist for the Minnesota Vikings head coaching job, plus the Houston Texans have interviewed him already as well. Minnesota is set to meet with O’Connell for a second time while the Jags are left looking elsewhere because they simply forgot to put an interview request in.
You may argue that teams having to put in formal requests to interview someone at a certain time is a bit over the top, but those are the rules the NFL has in place.
The Jaguars continue to be a dumpster fire.
