NFL Fans Are Very Confused And Amused By The Jaguars’ New Wall Of Helmets

The Urban Meyer era may have only lasted for 13 games and may have come to an abrupt end on December 16, 2021, but its effects are still being felt today.

Meyer, whose 13 game run with the Jaguars is tied for the fourth shortest coaching tenure in NFL history, was apparently long enough for him to have some input on a few design features now being seen in Jacksonville’s new football facility.

As Associated Press reporter Mark Long points out in a tweet he shared on Tuesday, “Jaguars’ new facility has a wall of helmets that will be aligned weekly with the Top 25. Ironically, OSU occupies the top spot; Urban Meyer was a big part of the initial facility design.”

If that seems to you like a weird thing to have in a professional football team’s facility, you are far from alone.

“Would make more sense if were helmets of schools represented on the roster. But ok,” one fan commented.

“Tbh would be cooler if they had helmets for all the players/staffs alma maters,” someone else agreed.

As weird as the whole concept is, that’s nothing once you more closely scrutinize the helmets that actually appear on the wall.

“The preseason Top 25 features 65 teams which includes: Alabama, Michigan, The Masters, NDSU, Nebraska, Tennessee, UConn, and of course West Florida,” another fan observed.

“If Urban Meyer was buying Richmond Spiders helmets for his top 25 wall, I’m not sure he knew anything about college football either,” another fan wondered.
