The WBA awarded Jake Paul a championship belt, and things got pretty awkward.
Paul attended the WBA’s convention in Orlando this week and was gifted a title belt by the boxing organization for his influence in the boxing world.
“You are changing the boxing business. You are changing people to move up. So we want to give you this as a token of motivation, and discipline in order to work hard.”
Paul was stunned when he was given the belt and admitted that it felt like he hadn’t earned a title belt yet.
“I’m honored for real, this means a lot. I feel like I haven’t earned this yet though. I feel like I have to actually fight for this. I don’t know. I don’t know.
Thank you. I feel like you guys should hold this until I’m actually fighting for a WBA Championship. I don’t know.”

The WBA handing Jake Paul a belt didn’t sit right with boxing fans
Boxing is a joke. Jake Paul is getting better. But he has done nothing to earn any belt. Don't have Fury-Usyk. What's happening at 160 pounds? The 135/140 stars are doing more tweeting than fighting. And I doubt we ever get Spence-Crawford. Why should I care about boxing anymore? https://t.co/T86Awv1k3A
