Jalen Ramsey is one of the most outspoken NFL players, with the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback never shy in offering up his opinion. Remember, this is the same guy who, last year during a GQ interview, called out nearly half the league’s quarterbacks, being as brutally honest as possible when it came to rating their skillset, so to think Ramsey’s going to hold back from any topic is laughable.

One thing that Jalen Ramsey made sure he commented on was his ranking on the NFL Network’s best players list, an annual thing that the league does each summer to get some hype, and cause a stir from players and fans, leading up to the regular season. And, once Ramsey saw that he was No. 27 on this year’s list, oh, he wasn’t to thrilled β€” especially when considering he was No. 17 on last year’s list. Just take a look at what he tweeted out following the announcement with where he was ranked.

Now, don’t get me wrong, Jalen Ramsey is a stud defensive back in this league β€” having been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his first two seasons, and making an All-Pro team his rookie campaign β€” but there are plenty of great players who have an argument that they deserved to be ranked higher. Names like Travis Kelce, Luke Kuechly, Russell Wilson, Odell Beckham Jr, and, at the same position as Ramsey, Stephon Gilmore, who have all proven longevity when it comes to success on the field. In Gilmore’s case, the two have had a few heated exchanges in the past, so you know Ramsey can’t feel good about being behind him on the list.

After hearing how upset Jalen was with being named No. 27, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith weighed in, saying that the cornerback shouldn’t be hurt over where the NFL Network ranked him. Take a look at Stephen A.’s reasoning below.

Jalen Ramsey showed up to training camp in an armored truck, so the guy’s more than just a little eccentric. And, after feeling disrespected by the Jaguars for not getting a new, long-term deal done this offseason β€” instead getting his option picked up by the team β€” I’m sure this silly ranking thing will add fuel to his fire heading into the regular season. Hey, it it works, might as well use it.
