Jimbo Fisher is spending his down time big game hunting in Africa. The former national championship winning head coach at Florida State has been away from the sidelines since being fired from Texas A&M.

He seems to be enjoying his time away from the game, as he was recently photographed on a desert safari.

Fisher last coached in College Station in 2023 but was fired before season’s end. The Aggies grew frustrated with results given their lofty investment.

After winning 83 games and a title in Tallahassee, Fisher bailed for Texas A&M to the tune of a fully guaranteed deal worth $75 million. That number grew to nearly $100 million after a 9-1 campaign in 2020.

Unfortunately, things fell off soon thereafter.

Over his last three seasons, Fisher’s Aggies went a combined 19-15 despite landing the most highly rated recruiting class in college football history. He was fired somewhat surprisingly following a 41-point blowout of Mississippi State that effectively secured a bowl berth.

Texas A&M ironically flexed a $160 million athletic donation on the sideline during his final game which more than paid for his buyout.

After that firing, he stepped away from the game, maybe hesitant to hop back into a coaching role. And why not? He’s set up nicely for the next few years thanks to a $77 million payment to leave College Station.

Instead of roaming the sidelines, Jimbo Fisher is big game hunting!

The former head coach was recently photographed on a safari across different stops in Africa.

He appears to be quite the shot!

Fisher has long been an outdoorsman, speaking on his hobbies of fishing and hunting at his previous head coaching stops.

He famously joked about being thankful he was never armed at Texas A&M practices during an offseason appearance in Dallas last year.

“I love to quail hunt. I like to hunt period. I just like to shoot things, I guess. I’m glad I don’t have a gun at practice sometimes.”

We can all be thankful for that.

Jokes aside, the head coach seems to be enjoying his African safari.

It will be interesting to see if he decides to get back into coaching in near future.
