Ever Seen A Hockey Player Score Twice In Six Seconds? Team USA’s Jocelyne Lamoureux Did Just That

Team USA hockey player Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson did the (almost) impossible and somehow scored two goals in just six seconds versus the Russians at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

With those goals, and 13 saves from Nicole Hensley in her Olympic debut, Lamoureux-Davidson helped Team USA score the victory over the Olympic Athletes from Russia 5-0.

The three-time Olympian scored twice within six seconds in the second period to set a new Olympic record for the shortest time between goals. Sweden’s Carl Goran Oberg held the previous record, scoring twice in eight seconds during the 1960 Winter Games.

“It was pretty special,” Lamoureux-Davidson told NBC Olympics after the game. “I had no idea until after the game [that she broke the record] when someone else mentioned it.”

The first goal was set up by a shot on net by Jocelyne’s sister Monique Lamoureux-Morando (yes, it is quite the successful hockey family), while the second goal was the result of two OAR defenders misplaying the puck on the next face-off.

Lamoureux-Davidson not only topped Canada’s Caroline Oullette, who scored twice in 16 seconds on Feb. 11, 2006, in a 16-0 rout of Italy at Turin, but also the men’s mark of 8 seconds apart held by Carl Goran Oberg of Sweden in 1960 at Squaw Valley.
